A couple of days at Bethany Beach

I took Kelly and her visiting friend over to Bethany Beach for a couple of days to soak up the sun. The weather missed our memo and it was hit and miss thunderstorms on Monday and then breezy and chilly on Tuesday but we still managed to enjoy ourselves.

I got up early today to powerwalk the beach by myself. I didn't bring my camera or anything. Just me and the beach for 45 minutes. While on my walk I kept wishing I had my camera so I went back after my walk and did it all over again [without the power part] with my camera!

I loved following this paddleboarder and wasn't paying attention to much else when I looked up and saw the entire lifeguard squad running my way! I squatted down and snapped away and all the boys and their ripped chests ran around me like Baywatch! LOL!

Travel the Fifty States

Terri Davenport, a creative team member at DesignerDigitals, posted a great thread in the forums there asking about each of the United States and members are hopping on with highlights about the states they live in! Very interesting to hear about all the wonderful places to go right in our own country! Visit the thread and share about your state!

College Visit: George Mason

Today was another college visit.

This time it was to George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.

I cannot say enough good things about this school. It was the best campus tour we have had at any college campus. The student ambassadors were so genuine, smart, grounded and informative. And boy did we do a lot of walking, really getting a flavor for the school. This school has so much to offer and Kelly's desire for political science/conflict resolution/international relations/environmental policy would all be able to be explored here.

So, the application list is getting finalized and prioirities being set!

This college search and application one is not an easy one and hard to believe it will be a year from now when we'll be making a final decision. But until then, we have the SATs to take in May.

College Visit: Georgetown

Spring Break last year was spent cruising the caribbean. This spring break we are cruising a few college campuses.

First on the list this week was Georgetown University. A reach school on Kelly's list and somewhere we wanted to visit because of the long line of family members back to my great grandfather that attended Georgetown. She would represent the 5th generation in a row to attend.

The purpose of college visits is to see if there's a fit. Does she like the feeling she gets here? Does she like the offerings of the campus? Can she see herself here? Nowadays the college application process is a challenging and somewhat draining adventure and you want to be sure that you are giving all of your efforts to schools that you really want to attend.

The campus was beautiful. The downtown shopping was very attractive. I had lots of retrospective thoughts while walking the campus thinking about my grandfather and great grandfather walking this same campus. But the school might not stay on "the list" after our visit. Lots to think about.

We Got Away

It's January.

The year is off to a great start.

I have a good husband. An amazing daughter. And the sweetest puppy ever.

Life is good.

NYC in January

So... it was a little cold while we were in NYC. I didn't bargain for highs of 27°.
We'd been having such a mild winter I was hoping for warmer days. But we made the best of it! We took in a couple of museums, some shopping... and some unexpected sights at the Hollister store...

They had all sorts of models showing off their abs... glad I had my camera to capture that moment! LOL!

And even though this isn't technically the best photo, I love the moment it caught. Kelly looking back to see commotion behind us and seeing the wall display at the top of the escalator.

Heading Home

Our little getaway is coming to an end. Heading home and looking forward to sleeping in our own beds tonight. The http://www.yotel.com/Hotels/New-York-City was unique, trendy and clean but the beds... No. Not at all comfortable. And really that what the hotel's for... Somewhere to sleep, right?

NYC's natural history museum

Today kelly and I are taking in the natural history museum in New York city before we grab a train back home! And even though it was only 17degrees outside it feels warmer.

Visiting the Guggenheim

At the http://www.guggenheim.org/ today. Not sure what my take is on the exhibit here. Makes me feel like I am a conservative traditionalist. But enjoying seeing the Lichtensteins :)

A Reflection

Today and heck, for that matter, all this week it's rainy and dreary so I'm especially drawn to my cruise pictures. Going thru and remembering warm days of relaxing and exploring. Good days with someone cleaning up after us and cooking for us. I could get used to that life! ;)

Then I came across this picture. I took a number of self-portraits on this trip. Not something I've done much of before but Ali Edwards inspired my to look for reflections. I signed up for her scrapbook on the road class and although I haven't even found the time to get thru the full class, just the first lesson got me going. I've been thinking and rethinking how to capture this trip and seeing side projects in-between with these self potraits.

This week has me busy creating [guess it's good it's raining] to get ready for our 2nd Quarter sale at DesignerDigitals. The first release of products is on Thursday and then a second release on Saturday morning. And Saturday we are in the chat room all day with chats from 8am-11:30pm EST. Hope to see you there!
