Here Comes Sandy...

Here in Maryland we are hunkered down prepared for Hurricane Sandy. School has been cancelled today and for tomorrow. Kelly's doctor appointment for today was cancelled. Her work is still opened so a little worried about her going to work tomorrow afternoon. Hoping it will be okay by then.

Looking at the hurricane map it looks like the eye of the storm is going to be passing just to the north of us tonight. They are telling us to prepare for up to seven days without power and that would mean internet could be lost as well. Of course, with daily operations with DesignerDigitals, that makes things a little rough. We hope to be able to bring you our days of gratitude, new product releases on Friday, and Digital Scrapbooking Day sale on Saturday but please know if we go silent... Sandy is the reason!

Make a Difference Day

Today, October 27th, is Make a Difference Day.

How will you be making a difference in our world today?
Will you make a donation to a worthy cause?
Will you get involved in a community action group?
Help someone in need?

It doesn't take something monumental to make a difference.
Something small can have a large impact.

I'm proud that my daughter strives to go to college to make a difference in this world studying peace studies and conflict resolution. To bring people together. The make change.

With the election days away, we all need to get out and make a difference!

Today I am off to a college visit and hope that along the way we can make a difference for someone, somewhere.

Who Knew... It's National Cruise Week!

Who Knew?

It's National Cruise Week!
I only wish I was on a cruise right now to celebrate! I cruised once in my early twenties in the mid-80s on a Carnival Cruise boiler room special to the Bahamas. Won't be doing that ever again! Seriously. I got seasick. The room was next to the boiler room. The beds folded out of the walls. If you forgot to take the toilet paper out of the bathroom before you stood in front of the toilet to shower then there was no more toilet paper. Not good. Would have been even worse if I'd experienced that at this point in my life! oy!

In 2011, Kelly and I went on a Royal Caribbean cruise to Haiti, Jamaica and Mexico for her 16th birthday and I think it's safe to say Kelly had the time of her life!

When Kelly heads off to college next year I hope that Randy and I can take a cruise or two together! He's never cruised and not sure if it's for him or not. But this adventure with National Geographic sounds like a dream trip! We would have to save up for years and years! Maybe this one is more reasonable, just not as exotic!

With Baltimore, our hometown, being a departure port it does make cruising more of an option. Tempted to cruise to bermuda but the silly superstitious me thinks we'll get caught up in the Bermuda Triangle ::eek:: LOL!
