Here it is, my first picture taken in 2011. Dixie. out on a walk. always willing to stop for me. :)
I've been fighting off bronchitis for the past 9 days so I've been pretty low-key since Christmas. Even had to cancel our scheduled trip to see the grandkids. So disappointing.
But the new year is here and a busy one it is going to be!
Starting the new year off with my new word for the year. In the scrapbooking world among others, choosing a word for the year gives opportunity to reflect and in a lot of ways is like a resolution. Last year my word was Embrace. And I did that. I embraced challenges, celebrations, work and life!
This year my word is
Strive to achieve. Strive to balance. Strive to enjoy. Strive for more.
Reaching for my goals. I've always been a hard worker [I'm a virgo--can't avoid it] but there is always more that I can strive for. I debated choosing document, but that's work. Strive just reminds me to go out and make things happen because nothing happens if you're just sitting around! :)
This week marks the end of the first decade of the new millenium. Quite a landmark. And I'm starting a new Create-a-Book series looking back on this first decade in our life.
As I pulled out my old scrapbooks from the first years of the decade, I was filled with emotion reading through all my pages and I knew I wouldn't have remembered these details if I had not scrapped them. Names of friends I couldn't remember were right there in my scrapbook pages. And all the trips we'd taken were documented--I love that! I also noticed a gap in the decade and I want to make sure there are no gaps in our memories. So doing this book will be like a super-sized year in review. I have pictures, if not pages and now I can go back and document about these past eleven years [taking on 2000-2010].
And as early as 1998... I discovered I WAS a HYBRID SCRAPPER!! And I didn't even realize it!
I was typesetting my page titles in Illustrator and printing them out, coloring them in, and adding to my pages. HYBRID. yup! that *was* me... until I went completely digital in 2004.
This is going to be a great relective project and I hope you'll join in! I'll be posting template sets each week as we go from 2000 through 2010.
A decade of changes. A decade of growth. A decade of memories.
